Type Locality and Naming
The type section lies on the southeast slope of Sanling Hill, Shilu Iron Mining District, Changjiang County, Hainan. It was named by the South China Scientific Research Team for High-grade Iron Ore, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1976, and published in 1986.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone and Sandstone. Yellow-brown, gray and gray-black slate and sandstone, with conglomerate and sandy conglomerate at bottom. Thickness >70 m.

Additional Information
Original lexicon entry also said that the fossils included "Graptolite Dictyonema". However, graptolites became extinct in Early Devonian, and "Dictyonema" is a Silurian form; therefore this identification is either erroneous or redeposited!
